How to wear: Maternity Belly Rings

Pregnancy belly rings are preferable when your navel starts to stretch or pop, this typically occurs around the middle of the second trimester. The PTFE material used for maternity jewellery is totally flexible which makes it very comfortable during pregnancy and also assists to prevent any snagging or pinching. Additionally, these choices can also be selected with 100% PTFE materials (no steel) so that you may wear the jewellery during scans and in some instances also during surgery.

As your baby grows larger you'll start to notice that the standard sizes no longer fit, rather than removing your jewellery and risking your piercing to close over, pregnancy belly rings can be used instead so that you can resume wearing navel rings again post pregnancy.

We recommend the 1 inch length during the 5-7 month mark and some mums may find they need an even longer length in the later part of their pregnancy.

  • Step 1: Use a disinfectant hand soap to wash your hands, your navel piercing, and your belly ring.
  • Step 2: Simply unscrew the top ball of your belly ring and insert the belly bar shaft through the pierced opening within your navel cavity. Take care not to graze or poke your piercing, take your time to ensure the belly ring gently moves through the piercing until you see it surface at the top of your belly button.
  • Step 3: Screw on the top ball, to prevent losing your ball, ensure that the ball is reasonably tight however take care not to over tighten as this could make it difficult to loosen when you next remove the navel jewellery.

Optional: Sizing your belly ring

The best thing about PTFE belly bars (aside from the comfort) is that they are easily resized to a desired length. To adjust, use a pair of scissors and cut the bar on a slight angle at the required length. Using a surgical steel ball, screw it on to the newly cut edge with firm pressure and the PTFE bar will re-thread itself. You can then replace the steel ball with a plastic ball if desired.
