An internally threaded, 14k white gold flower backing stud for Maria Tash earrings in both 16 gauge and 19 gauge. Suitable for replacing missing parts or for altering the post length of your Maria Tash body jewellery.

Comprised of 100% premium 14k white gold. Available in various post lengths in either a large 6mm flower backing stud or a petite 3.5mm flower. Two post gauges available, 16g and 19g.

The jewellery will suit various ear piercings. They are perfect for tragus piercings, helix, upper and forward cartilage piercings and in the traditional lobes. The piece includes a FLAT 14k gold flower ball with threaded backing (as shown) and this style is recommended for cartilage, tragus and helix jewellery as opposed to the butterfly backs.

6.5mm (1/4") fits an average helix or upper cartilage, and is the post length we use most commonly use. 5mm (3/16") fits a thin helix or upper cartilage. This length also works in the middle cartilage area. If a traditional ear stud sticks out from its backing in your lobe or helix, you wear a 5mm post.

Maria Tash Stud Sizes and Information Guide

When detailing the sizes of the Maria Tash studs you will hear references to post lengths, gauges and frontals. The frontal is the visual part (example the diamond) also known as the focal part or the front piece. The piercing bar that is inserted into your ear is sized as the post length, while the gauge is the thickness of the post. The flat back studs typically feature Maria Tash's threaded flower backing as pictured further below. They are supplied in a 19 gauge (0.9mm) thickness, roughly the same thickness as earring posts that use a traditional "friction" or "butterfly" backing. Featuring internal threading they are superior in every way including maximising hygiene, achieving a secure fitting and providing ultimate comfort (no more spikey backs). The posts are available in various lengths to suit your ears unique anatomy. For those who prefer, the classic butterfly backing (suitable for lobes only) these are also available in the single, one size fits all, standard length.

    Post Size Guide/Information

The post measurement is the full length of the piercing bar part only - measured from the inside of the flower along the post. The gauge reference is the thickness of the bar. Your piercer may be able to advise your size, or alternatively you can measure an earring you may already be wearing for a comparison.

Solid gold body jewellery is an optimum choice for piercings, be it the most expensive, it comes with its advantages. Solid 14K gold will not tarnish and unlike gold plated jewellery, it will forever maintain its luster. It will not flake or peel with age like costume jewellery. However, solid gold jewellery can still collect particles of dirt and body oils. We recommend cleaning your body jewellery to keep it looking brand new. You can use a jewellery cleaning agent if you have one, but if not, something as simple as dish washing detergent will do the trick, perhaps combining your cleaning with a soft bristle tooth brush to remove any tough built up grit.

The WikiHow has an excellent photo demonstration on self cleaning gold jewellery, you can check it out here.

Alternatively, taking your jewellery to a jeweller for a clean will always provide the ultimate results and a polish by a jeweller will restore your body jewellery back to brand new.
